Selling Tip #3: Choosing the Right Agent (Part 2)

In keeping with this idea of choosing the best real estate agent, we raise a few more thoughts on this fascinating topic. Popular thinking suggests that one person’s perception is that person’s reality. In other words, if you think it, it must be real. Do you think that marketing organisations from the entire business world don’t know that? Of course they do.

That’s why there are some companies (although we intend to help you see through these tricks) that will pursue lines such as:

We’ve got all the best buyers.
We have 158 offices around the nation.
Our group is selling a million dollars of real estate a minute.
We guarantee to find you a buyer within 17 days.
If you don’t choose us, it’ll be like leaving a suitcase of cash in the middle of the house after you’ve sold it.

It’s actually a bit laughable and we hope that the companies using these kinds of lines have a very tongue and cheek approach about it (let’s grant them the benefit of the doubt). But they know that a person’s perception is their reality. So what we suggest is: Please be smart. We’re better than that. Take a wise approach – talk to your agents and to people who have dealt with the agents before and get a personal referral. Have a look at their website.

On our website, for example, we have a testimonials page. Every person featured on that page – and they are numerous – have given our company permission to

A) Use their name
B) For you to call them

So do that because, after all, there’s nothing better than a personal recommendation from a friend or a trusted advisor.

But please, just filter some of the messages out there because there’s a lot of furphies going on, and people get taken in every day. Their gimmicks are somewhat amusing, but it’s also serious because we don’t want you caught up with the wrong real estate advisor, having to live with regret down the track. That’s all we’ll say for this video. We’ll talk again next week, but goodbye for now!
